summer 2022 update.rtf
it felt like swim took too long and too much to start—at some point in the fall, i even thought i couldn't get it done at all. looking back now, those long and increasingly cold months meant a lot. we made many new friends who have been so generous and collaborative. above all, we took the time necessary for us to figure out what we actually would like to see happen on campus.
swim must always justify its existence as an on-campus organization. what does it mean to be here and now? what's happening here and now?
we decided to look not far out into the distance but keep our ears to the ground. we began attending underground shows around campus with the intention of documenting them and working with the artists to share these ephemeral performances with more people. in this process, we realize we are helping constructing the scene—the archive as positive and creative. we also find ourselves, finally, part of the community—a reason to exist.
the archival effort runs alongside the print publication, and we are hard at work putting out our very first issue.
spring 2022 update.rtf
During summer, I decided to start a music magazine with a few friends on campus. The goal of the magazine is to provide a chill perspective on listening and making music. Over the course of the semester, the idea evolved into an online radio station which'll serve up all types of content: music, articles, visual art, etc. etc. Folks are encouraged to upload music they made to the site, and we'll put it on for everyone to hear.
Stay tuned! Meanwhile, if you're down to collab, pls reach out :))
